The first thing to do is to sort the clothes in color and according to the different washing instructions. The different washing instructions show how many degrees you have to wash with. Remember to empty all pockets for everything, not to ruin the machine and to ruin things you have in your pockets.

Often the following are washed at different degrees:

  • 40 degrees: Plain everyday wear.
  • 60 degrees: Towels, tea towels, dishcloths, underwear and linens.

Sort your everyday clothes in light and dark (if you have any brand-new clothes, in a screaming color, wash this with any other color of this color, or alone, otherwise you may risk staining).

If the clothing is very dirty, it may be worthwhile to rub some detergent in the clothing and soak it for 15-20 minutes.

Remember to sort wool and silk as this should be washed by gentle washing. Sometimes washing machines has a special program for this.

  1. Divide the clothing into white and colored.
  2. Wash new clothes separately the first few times.
  3. Use a good quality detergent.
  4. Pay attention to the dosage.
  5. Never use white washing powder for colored clothing as it often contains bleach.
  6. Do not overfill your washing machine.
  7. Turn the wrong side out.
  8. Do not leave clothes in the machine after washing.
  9. Follow the washing instructions carefully.
  10. Tumble drying results in faster wear and tear on the item compared to hang drying.
